Francisco Daniel "Danny" Roxo

Staff Sergeant Francisco Daniel "Danny" Roxo was a legendary Portuguese soldier in Mozambique. Born 1933 in Portugal he moved in 1951 to Mozambique, then a Portuguese colony. He fought the FRELIMO insurgents in Niassa Province (northern Mozambique) with great success and was awarded by the Portuguese Government for his actions. After the Portuguese Revolution in 1974, he then moved to South Africa and joined the South African Defence Force to fight the Cuban and Angolan forces. He died in combat 1976 in an ambush.
