Francis 1st

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Francis 1st is a sterling silver tableware pattern[1] [2]. Introduced in 1906.

[edit] Design

It was designed by Ernest Meyer, a French silversmith. It took him three long years to design this pattern.

This pattern is unique, given that - unlike other sterling silver flatware patterns - this one is enhanced by its fifteen different fruit-and-flower clusters. Each handle bears one of these detailed designs.

It has been claimed that the design idea came from one of the many Cesa 1882 tableware patterns.

[edit] Production

The Francis 1st flatware is produced by Reed & Barton Silversmiths.

This flatware is made in the U.S.A. and is warranted by its production company for 100 years.

Three American Presidents (Wilson, Truman, and Eisenhower) have owned the Francis 1st tableware pattern.
