Françoise d'Issembourg d'Happoncourt, Madame de Graffigny (1695-1758) was a woman of letters from north-east France. Her extensive diaries and correspondence offer an insight into her friends and times. She was a friend of Voltaire. Her 2500 surviving letters over 25 years fill 14 volumes.
