Fountain of Magical Brethren

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Fountain of Magical Brethren was a fountain that could be found on the atrium floor of the Ministry of Magic until its destruction in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix where Bellatrix Lestrange and Albus Dumbledore demolished it whilst sending a series of curses flying.

It displayed the golden statues of a wizard, a witch, a centaur, a goblin, and a house-elf. The witch and wizard were clearly meant to be the focal point, with the "lower beings" looking up in awe at the two humans. This was very unrealistic considering that centaurs consider themselves much more intelligent than humans and want nothing to do with them. The same goes for goblins whose relationship with witches and wizards leaves much to be desired.

"... A group of golden statues, larger than life sized, stood in the middle of a circular pool. Tallest of them all was a noble looking wizard with his wand pointing straight up in the air. Grouped around him were a beautiful witch, a centaur, a goblin, and a house-elf. The last three were all looking adoringly up at the witch and wizard. Glittering jets of water were flying from the ends of the two wands, the point of the centaur’s arrow, the tip of the goblin’s hat, and from each of the house-elf’s ears, so the tinkling hiss of falling water was added to the pops and cracks of Apparators and the clatter of footsteps..."
