1. Copyedited to make it more readable by starting with the bold title, date and location. This led to a major reorganisation to put events in chronological sequence instead of jumping around in time. Also added location in US. Not all readers live in the US, so to preserve a non-US-centric POV the location should be stated. Hope I didn't tread on any toes here :-) Graham Chapman
2. The article is still very centred about the US. To improve the aricle, more should be said on what lead to the actions taken by the Potawatomi and the Miami Nations in this battle between the British and the US, as well as the aftermath for all parites involved in this massacre. This article has been edited with a table with the name 'The Battle of Fort Dearborn' because that is what this 'massacre' was also called in various sources.

The box is confusing since it appears from the box that Heald was British, when he was really US. Also, it makes it seem like it was a battle between British and US forces instead of an attack on US forces and civilians by native Americans shsilver

[edit] Slaves?

It says they captured Americans to sell to the British as slaves- is there a source for this? I know nothing of the battle but I don't really think anyone was in the buisness of enslaving white people at the time yet alone the British army... --Josquius 18:24, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

My sources are in print and not to hand, but yes, the Indians involved sold some of the survivors to the British as slaves. The British then freed them quickly, so while the statement is correct, it is somewhat misleading. Shsilver 18:49, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Chief Blackbird

The only Chief Blackbird that I can find is one that died in 1800 and was a leader of the Omaha (tribe)...maybe this one here that was already wikilinked when I stubbed Chief Blackbird, is a different one than the one I did.--MONGO 10:04, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
