Forward Radio

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Forward Radio was a hospital radio station (in Stoke-On-Trent), established in 1954 as North Staffs Hospitals Broadcasting Service. The first broadcasts were made from Port Vale and Stoke City. The very first studio was housed underneath the stage at the Victoria Hall.

In 1958 the radio station was moved to Glebe Streetin Stoke, but another move was on the way in 1972 as the building was demolished to make way for the new A500. The move took the radio station into the hospital grounds and the City General site in 1978.

Another move in 1994 saw a relaunch in the form of Forward Hospital Radio and relocation to the North Staffs Royal Infirmary site.

In 2002 a new chair, Carol Lovatt, was appointed. The station closed on the 15th of August 2003.
