Since it was founded in 2003, the Formula Three Euroseries quickly became Europe's most important junior racing series. Since 2003 the world's most talented young drivers have competed for the coveted title. Whoever makes his mark in the Formula 3 Euro Series also gains a strong recommendation for the highest levels of motor racing. In fact, Formula 3 Euro Series has managed to get more of its drivers into Formula 1 or DTM than any other junior series worldwide [citation needed]. Three drivers were signed after the Formula 3 Euro Series' maiden season in 2003 by Formula 1-Teams: Ryan Briscoe from Australia (Toyota), Austria's Christian Klien (Jaguar) and the German Timo Glock (Jordan), while Mercedes-Benz employed Markus Winkelhock for DTM. Following the 2004 season three more drivers were promoted to the DTM for 2005: Overall winner Jamie Green from England, Canadian Bruno Spengler and German-Greek Alexandros Margaritis. " The Formula 3 Euroseries' high international prestige is reflected by the fact that the 23 drivers entered hail from 12 different nations - not only Europe but also from Japan, Brazil and Argentina. The twelve teams come from eight different nations. With Mercedes-Benz, Opel and Toyota, three of the largest automobile manufacturers are involved in the Formula 3 Euro Series. While in the last couple of years all teams used chassis from Italian company Dallara two teams now use different chassis: The AM Holzer-Team will rely on cars built by French manufacturer Mygale, and France's Team Signature built a car completely on their own - a first in the Formula 3 Euro Series. |
