Form factor (electronics)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In electronics, the form factor of an alternating current waveform (signal) is the ratio of the RMS (Root Mean Square) value to the average value (mathematical mean of absolute values of all points on the waveform), and is approximately 1.11.

K_f = \frac{RMS}{Average} = \frac{\frac{1}{\sqrt{2}}} {\frac{2}{\pi}} = \frac{\pi}{2\sqrt{2}} \approx 1.110720735
