Forgotten Realms (Spyro)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
- For the similarly named Dungeons & Dragons location, see Forgotten Realms
In the Spyro game series, specifically Year of the Dragon, the Forgotten Realms are where the dragons lived before the Sorceress banished the dragons to the opposite side of the world (the Dragon Realms in Spyro 1). The realms were rediscovered when the Sorceress, noticing her fading magic, tries to regain it by sending some rhynocs and Bianca to steal the eggs after the Year of the Dragon celebration in the Dragon Worlds. They are featured in Spyro: Year of the Dragon. The act of the Sorceress banishing the dragons is unofficially based on the Indian Removal Act in the United States in 1820.

[edit] Places in the Forgotten Realms
There are four home worlds in the Forgotten Realms: Sunrise Spring, Midday Gardens, Evening Lake, and Midnight Mountain. Each home world has different realms connected to it.
[edit] Sunrise Spring
- Sunrise Spring Home World — This is a hilly forest realm. It is believed that "Spring" is added to the name because of the lack of a forth world in Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage! for the season Spring (Summer Forest, Autumn Plains, Winter Tundra).
- Sunny Villa — a small city inhabited by little bears with lion's tails. It resembles an ancient Greek or Roman town.
- Sheila's Alp
Sheila's home. This realm is near the top of a mountain, and has lots of caves and mountain trees/plants. There are also three billy goats that live here.
- Cloud Spires
This is a city in the sky, inhabited by small fairy-like creatures; the city also seems to double as a factory for producing a variety of weather conditions.
- Molten Crater
A volcanic realm with many lava flows, there are Tiki culture men living here.
- Seashell Shore — This is a beach realm inhabited by seals. Rhynoc admiral Bluto makes his base here.
- Mushroom Speedway — This is a racing realm composed of hill-like rocky islands filled with giant mushrooms. An infamous glitch within this area prevents the player from being able to win the level's second egg at all, if - during their initial visit - they fail to win the egg and leave the area without it.
[edit] Midday Gardens
- Midday Garden Home World — a forest-like place.
- Enchanted Towers — This is a stone city inhabited by purple humanoid creatures.
- Sgt. Byrd's Base — This is Sgt. Byrd's home, a military base, mostly inhabited by hummingbirds.
- Spooky Swamp — This is a swamp realm inhabited by fireflies. Spooky Swamp appears to hold an enchantment that makes anything capable of language only able to speak in Haiku in this realm (even for Spyro seemingly). A Rhynoc wizard named Sleepy Head also holds base here. The water in the swamp is inhabited by piranha, preventing the player from swimming in it without being damaged.
- Bamboo Terrace: This realm is a grassland and bamboo forest. The inhabitants are panda bears. The place is likely taken from South China, with terrace mountains. It is also where most of the Fireworks Factory gunpowder shipments are sent.
- Country Speedway — This is a farm racing realm invaded by evil space cows.
[edit] Evening Lake
- Evening Lake Home World — The homeworld is a hilly grassland with a lake containing the sunken ruins of a castle; the level entrances are situated in and around these ruins underwater. A giant whale can be found swimming around the lake's perimeter.
- Frozen Altars — This is a polar city realm with penguin-like birds as inhabitants. Spyro is given the powers of ice breath by a fairy for as long as he is in this realm. In addition Spyro can operate laser turret devices to melt down ice and rampaging snowmen. (The birds tell Spyro they bought these lasers from "some bear", but cannot operate them with their flippers).
- Bentley's Outpost — This is the mountaintop home of Bentley the Yeti, as well as his younger brother, Bartholomew.
- Lost Fleet — This small realm features a group of lost ships sunk into green acid-like water; old miner Crazy Ed hangs around this realm, as well as the realm housing a skateboarding racetrack.
- Charmed Ridge — This realm is a castle where fairies live, harassed by a war with the neighboring kingdom of Felinian Cat Sorcerers.
- Fireworks Factory — This realm is a pagoda-like castle where mainly ninjas live. Though the ninjas are very weak, their numbers can make them formidable opponents. It is the arsenal factory of the Sorceress, producing all of her ammunition, and has been attacked by Sgt. Byrd many times for this reason. Handel and Greta from Spyro 2 make an appearance here, as well as Agent 9.
- Honey Speedway — This is a racing realm that features honey rivers, ponds, a large castle, and bees.
[edit] Midnight Mountain
- Midnight Mountain Home World — The home world is a group of floating, mountainous islands linked by a system of bridges.
- Agent 9's Lab — This is a small tropical island in the middle of an ocean. The lab that the Professor built here serves as the home of the space monkey Agent 9.
- Crystal Islands — This is a group of floating islands that, thanks to a group of magicians, have hills made of crystal.
- Desert Ruins — This is a tomb in a desert. Mostly inhabited by giant scorpions.
- Haunted Tomb — This is an underground realm where Egyptian-style dogs live and rhynoc mummies and curses cause havoc.
- Dino Mines — This is an Old West-style desert town, overrun by outlaw dinosaurs, namely the 'Bailey Gang'. This is one of the hardest levels, as the sharp-shooting dinosaurs do not miss a target.
- Harbor Speedway — This is a harbor and racing realm inhabited by extremely fast seagulls.
- Super Bonus Round — A floating snowy mountain which serves as a storehouse for the Sorceress' treasure. It contains numerous portals to other places. It's portals lead to a snowy race course inhabited by turbo-boarding yetis, an underwater ice cave filled with the Sorceress's submarine fleet, and a saucer dogfight arena filled with acidic goo in which the Sorceress met her end.
[edit] Sparx Worlds
- Crawdad Farm — a sandy terrarium-like realm ruled by the Crawdad King.
- Spider Town — a 'behind the floorboards'-like old house realm with spiders as residents, overseen by Mayor Twirly the Spider.
- Starfish Reef — an underwater realm inhabited by eels, an army of starfish, and mine-spitting ray called Raymond McRaymonson.
- Bugbot Factory — an industrial realm built by the Sorceress that produces evil cyborg bugs for one sole purpose: eliminating Sparx. The boss is Cention IV, a big, missile-shooting
centipede-type-bot. He is fought in an arena of sorts, with his Bugbot fans rooting for him from behind wall-type-things.
[edit] Boss Worlds
- Buzz's dungeon;a platform like level floating in lava, surrounded by viewing towers.
- Spike's Arena; a lot like boss one only it floats in boiling water.
- Scorch's Pit; a platform inside of an arena shaped like a ribcage.
