Forged In Flames is an original novel based on the television series Buffy and Angel. Unlike other Buffyverse novels, it is unlicensed by 20th Century Fox.

[edit] Plot summary
Concerned by an increasing attraction for Spike, Buffy requests help from her Watcher, Rupert Giles for help. She also contacts Angel, hoping to discover why it is that Spike is able to cause her pain despite a Government chip that should prevent him harming all humans. Meanwhile, the Council of Watchers' in England, discover some unsettling things about Buffy and seek to call a new Slayer, leaving Quentin Travers the chance to indulge the same experiments that the first Watchers (Shadow Men) had devised. However the new Slayer is not quite how the Council anticipated. Giles gets involved in a search for old Watcher diaries. They have no idea of the truths and the dangers that lurk close.

- Suppose to be set early in BtVS's sixth season, and AtS third season. Story remains outside Buffyverse canon, and written long before Angel Season 5 which would come to contradict certain continuity points.

- Buffy/Angel books such as this one are not usually considered by fans as canonical. Some fans consider them stories from the imaginations of authors and artists, while other fans consider them as taking place in an alternative fictional reality. This book is unique as the only widely published Buffyverse novel that is not licensed by 20th Century Fox.
