[edit] History
Queen Anne of England allowed Benjamin Fordham to establish a brewery in Annapolis in 1703 in the developing colony of Maryland. As his brewery grew in popularity, Fordham became an alderman for the city. However, the original brewery eventually closed down.
The Fordham Brewing Company was founded in Annapolis on June 11, 1995, with its name paying homage to the original company founded by Benjamin Fordham. Its Bavarian brewery was located at the Rams Head Tavern. In 2000 a second brewery was constructed in Alexandria, Virginia. After 54% growth in 2002 and 25% growth in 2003, Fordham moved to a 15,000 sq. ft. facility in Dover. Fordham's automated bottling line is capable of producing 15,000 barrels annually.
