Ford I4 DOHC engine
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Ford I4 DOHC engine was a 4-cylinder inline internal combustion engine produced by the Ford Motor Company from 1989 right into the 1990s. It was used in the Ford Sierra, Ford Scorpio, Ford Escort RS2000 and Ford Galaxy and more. It was designed to replace the Ford Pinto engine which many people still prefer.
The original 8 valve version was produced in 1989 to 1994 with a capacity of 2.0 liters which was placed into the Ford Sierra and Ford Scorpio (the CVH engine was used for the 1.6 and 1.8 liter models to replace the Pinto). It had 3 different variations.
Then 1994 onwards it was available in the Ford Scorpio, Ford Galaxy and Ford Escort RS2000 in 2.0 and 2.3, 16 valve versions. These produced more power due to having more valves.
