The Ford 400 is a NASCAR Nextel Cup stock car race held at Homestead-Miami Speedway in Homestead, Florida.
This race is relatively new in the NASCAR circuit, first appearing in 1999. Since 2002, the Ford 400 has been part of the Ford Championship Weekend, or the last week of the NASCAR season. Starting in 2004, it has also been the final race in the "Chase for the Cup". This turned out to be a major success in 2004 as an exciting race unfolded as the points leader changed multiple times during the race until the end, when Kurt Busch held off Jimmie Johnson by eight points, the closest final margin in NASCAR history.
NBC televised the race froom 1999-2006. In 2007, coverage will transfer to ABC.
