Forbidden Love (also called Honour Lost in the United States) is a book written by Norma Khouri. It was allegedly a true story about her best friend in Jordan. The story describes her friend Dalia's love for a Christian soldier, which had been kept secret from Dalia's Muslim father due to conflict in religion. However, her father had eventually found out and consequently stabbed Dalia to death. The book shocked those who read it, captivating readers through such a personal and emotional account. However, it was discovered that Khouri had fabricated the tale and that the story was a fictional novel.

Dalia is a young Muslim woman living with her family in Amman, Jordan. Aged 25, Dalia suddenly falls in love with Michael, a young Catholic major in the Royal Army. She is forced to keep their relationship a secret, in the knowledge that it could cost her her life. With the help of her friend Norma, Dalia makes dates to see Michael. On only a handful of occasions were Dalia and Michael able to be alone and she remained a virgin.
Two months after her 26th birthday, Dalia is murdered by her father, upon his discovery of her relationship with Michael. Her older brother had grown suspicious of Dalia and had told their father.
