Follow the Leader is KoЯn's third album and a departure from their first two albums. It was released on August 18, 1998. It is generally recognized as their breakthrough album, and the album that ultimately ushered nu metal into the mainstream. At over 5 million copies sold in the U.S., it is their best selling album. It is also the only Korn album not on iTunes.
The album features numerous guest vocalists, including Ice Cube on "Children of the KoЯn", Tre Hardson of The Pharcyde on "Cameltosis" and Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst on "All In The Family". Actor Cheech Marin provides vocals on "Earache My Eye", a cover of the song from the Cheech and Chong movie Up in Smoke, with the rest of the band trading instruments for the song.
The album begins on track 13, following 12 tracks of silence. The combined length of the tracks is one minute, making up one minute's silence for Justin, the boy the song 'Justin' is based on. The story goes that as his dying wish with Make a Wish Foundation, Justin wanted to meet KoRn. This spooked them somewhat, and the song Justin was written in his honor. There is also a B-Side from the album, entitled "I Can Remember" which can be found on the Got The Life CD single.
