Focke-Achgelis

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Focke-Achgelis was a German helicopter company founded in 1937 by Henrich Focke, and Gerd Achgelis.

The first fully controllable helicopter (as opposed to autogyro) was the Focke-Wulf Fw 61, demonstrated by Hanna Reitsch in 1936 in Berlin, Germany.

In 1937 shareholders of Focke-Wulf pressured Heinrich Focke to leave the company, so he set up a new business to specialise in helicopters.
