FMOD
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
FMOD is a commercial audio library that makes it possible to play music files of diverse formats on many different platforms. It comes in two flavors, FMOD and FMOD Ex. "Ex" is the designation given to the 4.x series of the library, which provides support for almost every audio format in use today and which can be used on almost any platform. FMOD alone refers to version 3.75 of the library, which lacks much of format/platform support present in FMOD Ex, but is still used extensively. Many game and software developers use FMOD to provide audio functionality to their applications. In non-commercial applications, it is completely free to use, while commercial developers must pay $3,000 for FMOD or $6,000 for FMOD Ex.
