Horizon Radio is the name of the pop-format Independent Local Radio station for Milton Keynes and North Buckinghamshire. Broadcasting on 103.3FM from the Bow Brickhill transmitter, it plays a mix of music from the 1980's, 1990's and Today. The station is known for its Morning Crew Show with hosts Cueball and Ros, the mid-morning show with Gareth James and Emma and Wes in the afternoon.
The station was launched as Horizon Radio by Chris Pearson in October 1989 as sister station to neighbouring Chiltern Radio. It was subsequently rebranded as 'The Hotter Mix' and FM 103. Yazz from her Plastic Population told everybody that the only way was up with the new sound of Horizon Radio. The first song played was Uptight by Stevie Wonder. The station was later re-branded as FM 103 Horizon before changing to Horizon Radio in 2006.
Horizon Radio is part of GCap Media's One Network.
The name Horizon has no real significance, although it was thought that its coverage area only extended out as far as Milton Keynes' city limits; realistically can be heard as far north as Corby and west as Bristol[citation needed].
Famous BBC Radio One DJ, Chris Moyles had a brief career at Horizon before moving on to new levels.
