Sean Hogan's Flying Column during the War of Independence.
Justification for usage:
- The image dates from 1919-1921 during the Irish War of Independence. It offers a direct pictorial image of the West Cork Brigade Flying Columns. The image is used to illustrate a range of publications, none of whom have been able to establish who the original photographer was. It probably was a member of the Flying Column. The image is presumed by everyone in publishing to be out of copyright because of its age and because its original has long since been lost (or is unknown) and so all that remain are copies of copies book publishers have been advised legally that copyright would be unenforceable in the absence of an original print. (Most copies seem to be copies of newspaper copies of other copies etc., hence the poor quality.) FearÉIREANN\(caint) 05:05, 12 February 2006 (UTC)
