Flyweight (MMA)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The flyweight division in mixed martial arts generally groups competitors below 125 lb (57 kg). This division is also referred to as bantamweight by Shooto.
Due to the division's relative sparsity, few organizations have employed the use of a flyweight division. Some organizations, like Shooto, hold regular flyweight contests and circulate a championship belt for that division. Shooto's "125-and-below" division currently holds contests at 123 lb (56 kg).
The Nevada State Athletic Commission's combat sports doctrine currently assigns the flyweight division to competitors weighing less than 125 lb.[1]
