Talk:Fluidic triode

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I remembered I read a magazine article back in the 1970s about using water jet thrusters on US Navy ships for steering. A powerful water jet was pumped out on both side of the bow. There was a Y-junction where the water flow split into two jets. At the junction were two much smaller control jets that pumped a much smaller amount of water into the flow. Depending on the direction of the control water jet, the main jet will diverge accordingly at the junction. Effectively, the Y-junction acts as a fluidic switch. The concept sounds identical to what is discussed in this article, though this article talks on the scale of a PA system, the 30 years old article talked on the scale of powerful thruster jets capable of moving tons of metal.
