Florida State Road 818
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Extending 18.8 miles from US 27 (SR 25) in Southwest Ranches to Federal Highway (US 1) in central Broward County, State Road 818 is a primary access road for Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in Dania Beach. Locally known as Griffin Road, SR 818 also passes through Cooper City as it parallels the South New River Canal. The route has an interchange with Interstate 75 in Southwest Ranches. Beyond the western terminus, the road continues to its end in Everglades Holiday Park in the Everglades Wildlife Management Area adjacent to Weston.
Although there is relatively little construction along much of Griffin Road, SR 818 is a major commuter road as the western portion of the route passes through orange groves, woodland, grassland, and the occasional residential development. The 1.5-mile-long section east of Interstate 95 is a popular alternative to Interstate 595 for people driving to the airport terminals.
