Florida State Road 807
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Locally known as Congress Avenue, State Road 807 is a 4.0-mile-long north-south highway serving northern Palm Beach County. The southern terminus is an intersection with Lake Worth Road (SR 802) just south of Palm Springs; the northern terminus is an interchange with Southern Boulevard (US 98-SR 80) and Australian Avenue (former SR 704A, now Palm Beach County Road 704A) adjacent to Palm Beach International Airport. The only incorporated city through which the current configuration of SR 807 passes is Palm Springs, although the interchange containing the northern terminus clips the western corner of Glen Ridge.
Congress Avenue proceeds another 15.6 miles southward (as Palm Beach County Road 807) to the historical southern terminus of SR 807, an intersection with Yamato Road (SR 794) in Boca Raton. Noteworthy sites along Congress Avenue include a campus of Palm Beach Community College at the current southern terminus of SR 807; Palm Beach County Park Airport, across the street from Atlantis at an intersection with Lantana Road (SR 812); golf courses in Atlantis, Boynton Beach, Golf, Delray Beach, and Boca Raton; and T-Rex Technology Center at Boca Raton at Yamato Road, less than a mile from Boca Raton Airport (accessed via nearby Northwest Spanish River Boulevard/SR 800).
With the ongoing reconstruction of Interstate 95 (SR 9), Congress Avenue has become a popular commuting alternative to the oft-congested expressway and similarly-crowded US 1 (State Roads 5 and 805) in eastern Palm Beach County.
