The Florida Atlantic Owls are a mid-major Division I-A college football team. The program began play in 2001 and has had only one head coach, Howard Schnellenberger. After competing their first four years as an NCAA Division I-AA independent, the Owls moved to Division I-A and the Sun Belt Conference.
