Flora Rheta Schreiber

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Flora Rheta Schreiber (died 1993), an American journalist, was the author of the 1973 bestseller Sybil, the story of a woman who was purportedly stricken with Dissociative Identity Disorder (or Multiple Personality Disorder). Schreiber had no training in psychiatry and her claim that Sybil suffered from Multiple Personality Disorder was later called into question by Dr Herbert Spiegel when Sybil became his patient.

Schreiber also published a book on the burglar, murderer and alleged serial killer Joseph Kallinger (The Shoe Maker), the accuracy of which has also been called into question.
