Lets get this straight. HTV Wales officially still exists, minimally, but it does. Its name is not seen on screen on ITV, but the company behind it is "HTV Group", which in turn is owned by ITV plc. The HTV name is seen on its studios, and productions for S4C. The article mentions it because it mentions it in the past. You do not say "ITV1 Wales" when referring to something from the 1990's, as it did not exist. The NW stations are not "unofficial", infact according to the ITV Regions Homepage, North Wales is not marked in the HTV area. Here in Wrexham, I can get Granada, HTV and Central West, and all of them include my area as part of their coverage, hence none of them are "official" at all. There needs to be a mention of the ease of reception from Winter Hill, which is the real reason why people turn away from Welsh TV; direct line of sight, the mast's height above sea level and that it was in use much earlier than Moel-y-Parc. And incase those brackets come back in on BBC One (Wales) and BBC Two (Wales), they are incorrect also. BBC One Wales (all one) is the official name of the channel, as is BBC Two Wales. Sorry if I have offended anyone who has edited this, but that is my point of view. I will edit the article accordingly (although I will keep "ITV Wales" when talking about 2002- )in the next few days, and if you have any ideas, feel free to tell me! I think the above points are very well observed and correct. I have removed from the reference 'official'. I am a former Flint person and do remember that local new rarely ever mentioned Flint or North Wales, we had to turn to the local papers for news. Other towns could get Welsh news and sometimes Flint was mentioned. The relay is still in use today, hence I think the ITV Wales reference is correct, however if this is wrong then please do edit along the lines you suggest, i'm not sure the article is meant to be entriely historic. Issues such as line of sight and height of winter hill do seem quite technical, but simplification of this issue would be most welcome as an edit to the article. Well I wrote a similar article for our local Welsh-TV relay, Wrexham-Rhos Relay, which basically the same (simple) information about ease of reception from Winter Hill. I did not mean the article to be historical, I mean when the article talks about the absence of ITV at the masts errection, I would refer to that as HTV Wales. If the article discusses the future and possibility of broadcasting ITV, I would refer to that as ITV Wales. Sorry about the confusion. And PS, I have heard Flint get a mention on Granada News before now. Most of Wrexham use Granada (and Wrexham is bigger than Flint), so therefore Granada announces Wrexham news, results and regional stuff. Central makes the occasional announcement, but I feel HTV Wales is very poor at news in North Wales. Marbles333 20:32, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

Ok, I get what you mean now. There has always the north south tension in wales over who gets most focus etc and BBC Wales is certainly heavily focused on goings on down Cardiff way. We are in a unique position in the north, being both very welsh but having stronger links to north west england and not the rest of Wales. Personally I think it comes down to geography and the way trade and our culture has developed around existing infrastructure (including things like TV transmitters). This article is linked to one about Flint, Wales and I hope that it might help educate people about the culture and background of our town. Don't even get me going on South Wales!! Wrexham has its own HTV depo, but quite frankly, they do eff all for North Wales. I have seen the BBC out and about occasionally (mostly for S4C), but with ITV plc in charge of HTV, its regional commitments will get down to squilch, and lazybones Ofcom aren't going to do anything about it! Possibly out of the two, HTV has the most bias towards the South Waleans... see how much coverage they gave on the National Eisteddfod, and there was definately less for Llangollen's International Eisteddfod (of course, S4C filled in the void but why should that stop HTV from at least making a regional programme on it, like they did with the National). Harlech Television is quite misleading, they do nothing with North Wales, its the name of the founder! I could write an essay of what I think about South Wales, but that would make tension here in Wikipedia... and we don't want that! Marbles333 21:15, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
