Flipmode Squad
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Flipmode Squad (formerly located at www.flipmode.com) was the production crew and musical family, founded and fronted by rapper Busta Rhymes, which counted Rah Digga, Rampage, Lord Have Mercy, Spliff Star, and Baby Sham among its members. They debuted in 1998 with The Imperial Album, and Rampage and Rah Digga went on to record solo efforts. Lord Have Mercy left Flipmode Squad in preference of a solo career in 2000, feeling that Busta was holding him down. [1] [2]
Lord Have Mercy collaborated with M.O.P. "Home Sweet Home", featured on their 2000 album Warriorz.
The founding member, Busta Rhymes has joined Dr. Dre's Aftermath label recently. Rah Digga, Papoose and Spliff Star have appeared alongside Busta in the "Touch It (Remix)" video, lending credibility to Flipmode's longevity.
Chauncey Hannibal from BLACKstreet, a new artist, Labba, from Brooklyn, who features with Busta on the Chris Brown - Yo Remix, and M.Dollaz are now in the group as well.
Underground sensation Papoose has recently signed with Flipmode Records to release his major label debut.
