Established in 1971, the Flinders University Hall (commonly Uni Hall) is a students' residence situated on the grounds of Flinders University in Adelaide. It provides on-campus accommodation and meals for 232 university students, most of which attend Flinders University but also those attending other universities in South Australia. As of 2006, the current Dean of Flinders University Hall is Helen Fletcher, whilst the Associate Dean is Bec Pannell. A team of residential tutors provide pastoral and academic support, while resident-elected House Committee run social and sporting events for the Uni Hall residents (commonly Hallies).

[edit] Rooms

Each room contains a bed, wardrobe, desk, shelves, electric fan, heater, a telephone, and a Broadband Internet port. Each room measures roughly three square metres - although larger rooms are available to senior undergraduate or postgraduate students. Also to those who undertake community service or assist with House Committee events.

Communal kitchens are bathrooms are available to students, as well as several "common rooms", with access to television sets, pool tables, daily newspapers, and vending machines. There are also several facilities, including a music room, a computer lab, a library, and a basketball/tennis court. The hall provides fifteen meals per week (breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Monday to Friday); residents provide their own meals on weekends. A division of the catering company Eurest called "Scolarest" is contracted by the hall to supply the food during the week.

Flinders Univeristy Hall competes in the SAUCC competition against other colleges in Adelaide. Some of these sports include:

  • Table Tennis

The cheer song for the Uni Hall Sharks is sung to the tune of You're a Grand Old Flag as follows:

It's a grand old flag, it's a high flying flag
It's the emblem for me and for you.
Its' the emblem of the team we love,
The team of the old Double Blues.
Every heart beats true, for the old Double Blues,
And we sing this song to you (what do we sing)

The Hall produces a quarterly newsletter for residents known as the Hall Herald which covers hall events, Flinders University events, advertisements and miscellaneous information. The annual Theatre Restaurant dinner provides opportunity for residents to demonstrate talents in dance, music, comedy, spoken word and plays.
