Fleet Admiral Morrow is a character in the fictional universe of Star Trek who makes an appearance as the Commander-in-Chief of Starfleet circa 2285. Morrow is also the first Star Trek character to be seen in a live action production holding the highest rank of Fleet Admiral. According to the Star Trek novel The Lost Years, it was Morrow who sponsored James Kirk's promotion to captain and was pressuring him into applying for promotion to the admiralty following the completion of his first five-year mission. Portrayed by actor Robert Hooks, Fleet Admiral Morrow can be seen in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock welcoming back the crew of the USS Enterprise and later cautioning Admiral James T. Kirk from attempting to return to the Genesis Planet.
Prior to Morrow's appearance, another Fleet Admiral had been mentioned in Star Trek: The Motion Picture being the character of Fleet Admiral Nogura. Nogura, however, was never seen on screen and is mentioned in dialogue only. In the Star Trek Original Series, a Fleet Admiral is never seen but Leonard McCoy mentions the rank in passing during the episode "Space Seed".
Unofficial sources from the production of Star Trek III indicate that Fleet Admiral Morrow's first name was most likely "Randolph" while other sources state his first name was "Byron" and the novelization claims "Harry". Fleet Admiral Morrow made no further appearances in Star Trek films, as his role is seemingly taken by another Starfleet Admiral, Fleet Admiral Cartwright in subsequent Star Trek features. "Byron Morrow" is, perhaps not coincidentally, the name of the actor who played Admiral Komack in the Star Trek Original Series.
In the "USS Enterprise Officer's Manual", an unofficial Star Trek manual, Morrow is stated to hold the rank of Flag Admiral, considered senior to the rank of Fleet Admiral.
