[edit] Hey, Netsnipe!

Hey there, buddy. I was just wondering...

Being a Flash animator, I always think of new ideas for a Flash, and I just thought of animating administrators fighting vandals. How would you like it if I animated you fighting WoW and WiC? If so, please tell me what you'd like to look like, so I can do it correctly. Thanks. ~ Flameviper 16:20, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

No thanks. Please find someone else to be your model or come up with your own character. I personally follow Wikipedia:Deny recognition so sorry, I'll have to pass. --  Netsnipe  ►  16:40, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Adoption criteria

JUst to let you know, I added a lot to the criteria discussion page. I also organized it, but you can undo that if you don't like it. I feel it is easier now to see how everything flows now than how it was. Randfan 21:06, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Page design

Hi how are you? Thanks for that. So I was being bold and I started making a new design, and probably is not as good as other programs' design. Oh well, please see it and give me some feedback. Thank you very much! Imoeng 00:21, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Category:Users who are currently online

Neat idea for a category, but could I ask you to make it category:Wikipedians who are currently online? At Wikipedia:User categories for discussion, we've been getting rid of most of the category names with "Users" in the title. Thanks!--Mike Selinker 09:07, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] November Esperanza Newsletter

Program Feature: Admin Coaching (needs coaches!)
Admin Coaching needs coaches!!! If you are an administrator, or even a generally experienced user, do consider signing up to be a coach.

Admin Coaching, now being coordinated by HighwayCello, is a program for people who want help learning some of the more subtle aspects of Wikipedia policy and culture. People are matched with experienced users who are willing to offer coaching. The program is designed for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.

What's New?
The Tutorial Drive is a new Esperanza program! In an effort to make complicated processes on Wikipedia easier for everyone, Esperanza working to create and compile a list of tutorials about processes here on Wikipedia. Consider writing one!
A discussion on how Esperanza relates to the encyclopedia has been started; please add your thoughts.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  • The list of proposed programs has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
  • There is now a new program: the Tutorial Drive! Consider writing a tutorial on something you are good at doing on Wikipedia.
  • The suggestion of adding a cohesive look to all the Esperanza pages is being considered; join the discussion if you are interested!
  • In order to make a useful interlanguage welcome template, those involved in translation projects will be asked what English Wikipedia policies are most important and confusing to editors coming from other language Wikipedias.
  • A discussion of Esperanza's role in Wikipedia is being held, with all thoughts of all Esperanzians wanted!
  • Shreshth91 informed everyone that he will be leaving the Esperanza council as life is rather busy; his spot will be filled by the runner up from the last election, HighwayCello.

Although having the newsletter appear on everyone's userpage is desired, this may not be ideal for everyone. If, in the future, you wish to receive a link to the newsletter, rather than the newsletter itself, you may add yourself to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Newsletter/Opt Out List.

[edit] adopt-a-user criteria (exact rules/guidelines and discussions for them)

I added a new page for the exact rules/guidelines I used the rules from Prop. #3 and Prop. #4. The link can be found at the top of the criteria page. Feel free to add to! Cheers! Randfan 22:15, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] User:Flameviper/Status_changer

Your mod User:Flameviper/Status_changer of my status changer script uses outdated code - many of the problems you point out on that page have been solved by newer versions of the status changer script. You should consider revising that page to take advantage of the status changer updates. ~Topaz 07:37, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Adopt-a-user on the Esperanza page

Hey Flameviper,

I've taken the link to Adopt-a-user off the Esperanza programs menu, just because it isn't really an Esperanza program, and I wanted to let you know so you didn't think I was arbitrarily taking it off. Though there are many programs that are great in Wikipedia, that section is really only for Esperanza programs. If you have any questions, definitly let me know. -- Natalya 17:18, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

Eh... I was going to just add it, but I see now that you need consensus. OK. ~ Flameviper 17:47, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Pr0xy

You seem to have some misunderstanding about what the project is, we are a project to build a free encyclopedia, not some crusade against web filtering software. --pgk 19:16, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

We are still an encyclopedia, not an anti censorship project. If you want to setup your own website using imaginative mis-spellings to bypass filtering others may choose to do, then you are more than welcome. If you want to put out a general proposal to permit such redirects on wikipedia I suggest the village pump. --pgk 20:45, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Inserting content

Thanks, believe it or not that's been there for quite some time and you are pretty much the first (perhaps second) to actually insert anything other than abuse... --pgk 21:41, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Yep, "Yall got a llama-gram"

Actually, I changed it to "You became a llama" about a month ago. I'm very strange. --The Great Llama talk 22:33, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Article about Wikipedia Users - Adoption

Hello,

I am a freelance writer working on an article about the wide array of people who make Wikipedia their life, their passion, their pastime. Wikipedia “addicts” if you will. I'm also looking at all the "behind the scenes" goings on at Wikipedia that the average reader of the site never knows about. I intend on focusing a little on several of the unofficial Wikipedia organizations that members are a part of such as Esperenza et al. To this end I would like to speak to you about your participation in the "Adoption Program". If you are interested in participating, please email me at (e-mail address redacted) FFFearlesss 20:46, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Post me

Hi there,

You said you'd be willing to talk about your experiences with Wikipedia. What I've been having people do is just start off by telling me your story with Wikipedia. How did you get started? What made you get more involved? What do you spend your time working on these days? Are you involved in any of the wiki programs on the site. Whatever you feel is pertinent to "your story" and then we'll go from there.

Thanks for the advice on the email. Yeah I'm already realizing the goof there. I think once this particular article is done I'm going to have to create a new email address because I'm already getting loads of spam. Live and learn I guess.  :-)

Thanks,

Brian

[edit] Getting on with WP:Adoption

Hi Flameviper,

Since getting involved in WP:Adopt things seem to be going on nicely if slowly. The number of people getting adopted is slowly increasing, and they never seem to stay in the "want to be adopted" category for too long. But if we really want the Project to work - it needs to go to the next level, and be seen as one of the formal ways that new Wikipedians are welcomed into Wikipedia.

I wondered what your thoughts or plans were (as you seem to be the founder of the project from what I can work out). I suppose I worry that if the project does not move fast enough it will never make it and then drift off into deletion. I don't want that, and I am willing to put in a lot of time and effort to make the project an essential part of Wikipedia.

Your thoughts on this would be gratefully welcomed. Lethaniol 17:31, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
