What does the flag of Austria mean? What does it represent?

From what I've read, the colors come from the white surcoat of an Austrian duke, who, at the battle of acre, used it to rally his fleeing troops. The coat was drenched in blood, with the exception of the part his belt had covered. Basically, what the article already says, except that from I read, he used the surcoat as an improvised flag to rally his men. -Alex, 74.133.188.197 18:34, 5 June 2006 (UTC).
