Flatspace (computer game)

Flatspace is a "indie" game for Microsoft Windows in which the player is a spaceship captain, released in 2003. A sequel, Flatspace II: The Rise of the Scarrid, was released in January 2006.

Both versions use 3D graphics with a top-down view. They combine features from Rogue-like games such as NetHack and ADOM (a map to be explored, randomized setup) and Frontier: Elite 2 (optional missions that earn money, trading). Flatspace II adds guilds and an alien race.

Play is notably open-ended: activities available include trading, missions, exploration, bounty hunting, space piracy and police work.
