Fladda

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The name Fladda originates from the Old Norse for flat island, and as such is the name of a number of small islands in the Hebrides and Shetlands of Scotland.

Fladda is one of the Slate Islands, off the west coast of Argyll and Bute, Scotland. It lies west of Luing and is has a lighthouse and lighthousekeepers' cottages built in 1860 by brothers David and Thomas Stevenson. It is home to a large colony of terns.

There is another island in the Hebrides called Fladda[1]. It is a small tidal island (i.e. an island at high tide only) on the North West coast of Raasay, just North of Arnish in Raasay.
