Five US is a free-to-air entertainment television channel in the United Kingdom owned by Five, launched on October 16, 2006 [2] and available on digital television. Five US broadcasts daily between 4pm and 1am and concentrates on showing programmes imported from the United States.

[edit] Programmes

Highlights on the channel include the UK premieres of Nightmares and Dreamscapes, and Conviction. Five bought the secondary and VOD (video on demand) rights to all three CSI shows to show on Five US [3].

Five US features American sport highlights of NASCAR racing, NBA, MLB, NFL and the X Games. US sitcoms Happy Days, Everybody Hates Chris and Joey also air on the station. US 1960's action tv show Mission Impossible has recently gone into syndication on the channel.

The channel also screens the interactive quiz show The Great Big British Quiz daily from midday until 4pm and from 1am until 5am. It also has a teleshopping slot from 9am until midday.

In addition Five secured the rights to show 180 made-for-TV movies under a deal made with RHI Entertainment [4], with some of the movies to be shown on sister station Five Life.

The first programme broadcast on Five US was series 1, episode 2 of CSI, "Cool Change", at 8pm on launch night. The series premiere was shown on Five the previous evening.

[edit] Launch

The launch of Five US was preceded with a short video on loop with all the programmes that would be shown on Five US, alongside other previews.
