FIVB World League 2006

The FIVB World League 2006 was a Volleyball tournament played by 16 contries from July 14 to August 27. The finals were held in Moscow, Russia, and it's won by Brazil getting the World League title for the fourth straight year.

[edit] First Round

The 16 teams have been drawn into four pools of four teams (A, B, C and D).

The teams play each other in a pool four times, two matches at each country.

Each team plays twelve matches in the first round.

The winner of each match receives two match points, the loser receives one point and a team that forfeits a match receives no points.

At the end of the first round, only the first team in each pool will advance to second round plus host country Russia and a invited team from FIVB. If Russia become first in his pool, the second will automatically advance.

All the matches was played at Moscow at this time.

The six teams have been divided in two pools named E and F with three teams each.

Each team played three games at this round, two against opponents in theirs pools and one againt a opponent from the other pool.

[edit] Semi-Final & Final Round

The two top teams from each pool will advance to Semifinals. The two winners will meet in the final, and the two losers will play for third and fourth positions.
