FIuorescent grey
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Fluorescent Grey is an experimental music collective (currently signed to Isolate Records) started in 1995 by Jacob Jarnigon, otherwise known as Robert Martin. Occasionally guest stars Benjamin Vanderford. Early music included several hardcore noise and ambient albums. Only in the past 3 years has the style developed into more cohesive electronic and sometimes organic rhythmic conceptual music. Some have called him a mixture of the styles of Alvin Lucier and Aphex Twin.
In 1997 Robert met Benjamin Vanderford. Together in March, 1998 they formed Record Label Records. Benjamin is more well known for his starring role in the beheading hoax video that was co-created by Robert and widely circulated on the mainstream media news wire services[1]. Realizing the pontetial of internet file sharing networks, Robert distributed his own mp3 files under the guise of Autechre's Untilted on the Soulseek network. The prank became so infamous that Sean Booth of Autechre was asked about it in an interview[2].
