Fishing for Orphans is a comic strip created by James Squires. The comic has been published in the Canterbury University (New Zealand) student magazine, Canta from 2004 to present, as well as in the Canterbury University student diary for 2005 and 2006.

The humour can be slightly crass and is not for all tastes, but is notable for its local following and unique style. The comic involves few recurring characters- the ones that do recur involve a child on a stool, several student characters left predominantly unnamed, and kiteboy- a boy with a kite.

Squires won the 2006 Eric Award for Best New Zealand Comic Strip.

Comics are also updated as a weekly(ish) webcomic
