The Fisherman is a DC Comics supervillain, primarily an enemy of Aquaman. He first appeared in Aquaman (2nd series), #21 (May 1965). He utilized specialized lures and a fishing rod as weapons to entangle his enemies.
Fisherman was killed in Gotham Central #37 (2005).
A new, more deadly, version of the villain is slated to appear in Aquaman: Sword of Atlantis #48-49 (2007). It is not known, however, whether this version of the Fisherman will be an "upgrade" to the original or a successor.
