[edit] Game Storyline
Players take on the role of a fish store owner who must breed and care for hundreds of different kinds of exotic fish, all the while attempting to keep the fish store economically viable long enough to achieve the ultimate objective: breeding the 7 Magic Fish.
[edit] Game Play
Players start with only a small selection of fish, some money, and a fish tank. Money is earned by selling fish, with which additional supplies, medicine, and special chemicals are available to buy, along with the options of researching environments, food, and advertisement for your fish shop. Although the game runs in real time, it can be paused - normally the life in the aquarium(s) runs even when you exit the game or turn off your computer.
[edit] Breeding Fish
There are 400 fish to discover within the game. Each breed of fish is assigned a value from 1 to 20, as well as each fin type. When you breed two types of fish, the breed and fin type are averaged, resulting in a new fish. See this Fish Tycoon Breeding Chart for the complete list of fish and fin types, along with an application and excel sheet to help you breed your fish.
