Having boldly made minor revisions to a couple of Wikipedia pages that I came across during Web searches, and having realized that I would do so again without compunction, I decided that registration was the right thing to do. So here I am.

[edit] Into the fray

This page will evolve, I expect, as I visit other people's pages and unabashedly copy features that I admire. Choosing userboxes and trying to get up to speed on the Great Userbox Debate has been interesting. I'm not ready to vote on any proposals (don't sufficiently understand the implications of namespace creation, for one thing) but am more than willing to weigh in here: If people are using userboxes on their own pages to declare their biases, political and otherwise, so much the better. At least others who use or edit the person's contributions to various articles will have some idea of where the person stands -- and whether or not they have a leg to stand on. I don't yet understand why the debate focuses so specifically on userboxes as opposed to user pages, which cannot be NPOV but could arguably be inappropriate. Is it because of the deletion bottleneck? Wasted time and resources?

[edit] Enough about you...

Here are a few bits of information that I wouldn't have thought of including except that I liked it when other users did, so I will, too:

  • People generally call me Andrea, not Firerooster, but I'd probably answer to either one if I wasn't daydreaming.
  • I translate French into English for money (mainly in the business and public relations fields), and write fiction for reasons that I can't quite articulate (but it's not for the money).
  • I'm a late bloomer in the writing department, which irks me to no end.
  • I grew up on the Prairies, have travelled hither and yon, and at present live and work in various basements and cafes in the east end of Toronto, Ontario, but when people ask "Where is home?" I never have an answer. Or I have too many answers. I have invented a word for this: polylocoamorous.
  • I take comfort in the following quote (that someone I trust told me is) from Nietzsche:

Those who were dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music.
