Picture of me. Yes, we really do wear red suspenders.

Greetings. I started in April of 2006 editing some Wikipedia articles relating to emergency services, and in doing so started a domino-effect of editing. So, now I look up things of interest to me, and if I come across something that isn't correct (or doesn't look correct), I research and correct them. I also format pages that are not formatted to Wikipedia's suggested format.

I am married with 2 kids, and live in North Central Florida.

I work full time as a Fire Lieutenant for Palm Beach County Fire-Rescue in South Florida. I've been there since 1991. I have been involved in the EMS field since 1984, being a certified paramedic since 1989.

I have recently been a MySpace advocate. There is a large Fire and EMS presence on there, and would like to see it remain unrestricted so I can remain in contact with the other people I have met through networking on it. My feeling is that parents should be able to monitor what their children do on the computer, and if they are not able to, the computer access should be revoked.

[edit] Helping

One thing that I enjoy doing is helping people who are interested in the Fire and EMS services find out more about it. I love my job and love to talk about it to anyone interested. I have started a blog on MySpace (see the link below) that shows what being a firefighter is really like. I update it after each shift, including pictures and dispatch radio clips. I also help people who want a career in the Fire or EMS services to get started in the right direction.

I have written an article for Fire Engineering magazine about Quantifying Computer Workloads in the fire service, and am in the middle of writing several more in the near future.

I also am a fire buff (always, since I was a kid), even though I have worked in the fire service for many years. You can see some of my pictures on my flickr.com page.
