Firstborn are a band from Harpenden, Hertfordshire in the United Kingdom, playing a combination of classic rock choruses coupled with emotive modern verses.
The group's previous demo releases, "The Face In The Frame" and "A Curtain Call To Arms", were both produced by Dan Weller and Justin Hill of Sikth, in 2004 and 2005 respectively, and were toured relentlessly shifting over 1,800 copies collectively.
Impressive, without a shop release, even more commendable is the press attention the then four piece received. Airplay from The Rock Show and Zane Lowe Show on BBC Radio 1 was backed up with an introductory feature in Kerrang!, who also awarded "The Face In The Frame" its "Single Of The Week" accolade, beating off competition from heavyweights such as lostprophets, Funeral For A Friend and Ash.
The group's hard work on the UK’s pleasantly labelled "toilet circuit" and their pro-active approach to online promotion was rewarded with two festival appearances, firstly alongside Kasabian and Basement Jaxx at o2’s Fresh Weekend in 2004, then alongside The Used, Funeral For A Friend, Story of the Year et al at a date on the Taste Of Chaos tour in 2005..
After a lineup change in late 2005, which saw the arrival of Tom Jackson after his departure from Aconite Thrill, the group set about writing new material. Shortly after, in May 2006, the group entered Kore Studios in Acton, West London to record an Extended play (EP). The EP was produced by Larry Hibbitt of Hundred Reasons.
In a blog entry on the group's MySpace page on Sunday 16th July 2006, it was announced that a brand new track from the aforementioned session was to be uploaded to the popular community website for streaming, on Saturday 22nd July 2006, at noon. The track was uploaded in order to generate interest in the group's forthcoming EP, Embers.
Embers will be released on Monday 6th November 2006, through independent label, Majour Records. The EP will be available in all good record stores and on iTunes stores worldwide.
