First Wizard is a fictional position in the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind.

The First Wizard is the leader of the order of wizards in the Midlands. The First Wizard is usually a wizard of the First Order, is the most powerful of the wizards, and typically trains the other wizards. The First Wizard, for all ages, is the keeper and caretaker of the Sword of Truth and its magic between Seekers while a new Seeker is being sought. The First Wizard is also the keeper of the Book of Counted Shadows as well as a number of other magical books and artifacts.

The first test to becoming a wizard of the First Order is to trick one with his own rule (typically the wizard's first rule), a feat Richard was able to accomplish (although not for this purpose).

Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander is the current First Wizard.
