[edit] Plot summary

February 13, 1977 Sunday afternoon. While watching Gilligan's Island Hyde confirms his study date with Donna the next day, but Eric has something else in mind when he walks her home asking her if she wants to go out and have dinner with him on Valentine's day (which would be their first official "date" not counting all the times they've made-out). After considering studying with Hyde she tells Eric she wants to go with him. Jackie and Kelso plan something too, a shopping date to look for clogs which Kelso doesn't think there's going to be any shopping. Fez and Hyde decide to just hang out. After hearing of Eric and Donna's date their parents get excited and plan to celebrate by sharing fondue the next day.

On Valentine's Day Fez tells Hyde that once Eric asks Donna to be his girlfriend, which Eric plans to do by giving her his class ring, that Hyde will regret that he missed his chance to win Donna over. Eric and Donna's date starts out with the parents trying to take photos of them while they try to get away as fast as they can. At the restaurant, the Vineyard, Eric decides to order drinks and gets them without being carded, he orders a beer while Donna asks for an ice tea. The date goes south quick when Donna gets really drunk and rowdy and it's revealed that she drank a Long Island Ice Tea. Eric goes looking for coffee to calm her down and Hyde shows up to talk to Donna. Hyde tries to tell her his feelings but instead she just pushes his nose and puts on his sunglasses. Eric comes back upset that Hyde is showing up on his date with Donna. Donna then runs to puke while Hyde takes Eric's dinner and drinks his beer. Later the two are drinking coffee at the Hub and Eric asks Donna if she'll be his girlfriend and wear his class ring to which she says yes. He then kisses her despite her reminding him that her mouth probably tastes like vomit.

Jackie takes Kelso to many shoe stores until 9:00 when they close and Kelso asks if they're going to "prove their love" again. Jackie protests until Kelso finally is o.k. with not doing it all the time. He is rewarded when she tells him that she wants to do it. Afterwards Jackie tells Kelso about how she wants their love to last forever and Kelso is just scared she just actually just said forever.

The Forman's and Pinciottis' fondue night doesn't go as planned as the hot oil is going everywhere making it very unpleasant. They then share a poetry reading by Midge to which she finishes and Bob picks her up and runs off for sex. Red and Kitty see that their friends have definitely changed with the fads and that their own relationship is a classic.

The episode closes with another circle where Eric forgives Hyde and Kelso stresses his fears to the guys about being with Jackie forever because he did it. Hyde tells him that women are like muffins and that you'll do and put up with anything to have another muffin.
