Fisrt Bristol operates 38 bus services throughout the city. There are some sreas of Bristol that have a high frequency of buses they are Cribbs Causeway, Kingswood and Centre.

There are four school services running in Bristol.

429: St Mary Redcliffe - Avonmouth (Though the service is ment to be for Ashton park it starts at redcliffe)
431: Ashton Park School - Totterdown
433: St Bernadette School - Brislington
436: Brislington School - St Annes

X Services are buses with limited stops, there are usually only a few of these services per day, but they provide a quick link between their start and end destination.

There are 8 night flyer services across Bristol. These services only run on friday and saturday nights, also at new year, They run approximately every hour for 5 hours.

N3: Kingswood/Hanham - Centre - Kingswood/Hanham
N4: Stockwood - Centre - Stockwood
N5: Rookery Farm - Centre - Rookery Farm
N6: Hartcliffe - Centre - Hartcliffe
N7: Avonmouth/Shirehampton - Centre - Avonmouth/Shirehampton
N8: Henbury - Centre - Henbury

Though these services are not rail links, they do act as rail links for north bristol.

[edit] Services 8 and 9

Services 8, 8A, 9 and 9A act as a rail link bettwen Temple Meads and Clifton down. If rail services bettwen Temple Meads and Clifton Down become more often then then service may see a decline in passengers. In 2006 First got new buses for the route to improve the service.

Service 73 Provides a quick and frequent link between Bristol Parkway and Centre. In the other direction it provides a link to Cribbs Causeway.

Service X84 provides an express link between Bristol Parkway and Centre. Although the service only runs a few times a day, due to service 73 being the main Bristol Parkway - Centre rail link.

[edit] Park and Ride

There are 3 park and ride services in the city, cribbs causeway has also been talked about as a location for a new service as it worked very well in the Brunnel 200 celebrations. This is unlikely to happen if serice 1 becomes a showcase route. (See below for details.)

902: Park and Ride - Centre (aprox every 15 mins)
Portway park and ride is situated on the (A4) Portway at Shirehampton. The journey take approximately 30 minutes to get to the city centre. This site is open from Mondays - Saturdays.

903: Park and Ride - Centre (aprox every 10 mins)
Long Ashton park and ride is situated on the A370 at Long Ashton. The journey take approximately 15 minutes to get to the city centre. This site is open from Mondays - Saturdays.

904: Park and Ride - Centre (aprox every 10 mins)
A4 Bath Road park and ride is situated on (The A4) Bath Road at Brislington. The journey take approximately 20 minutes to get to the city centre. This site is open from Mondays - Saturdays.

[edit] Showcase Route 1

In Bristol There is currently one showcase route and that is service 76/77. It is classed as one route but it is two services, and Operates between Hartcliffe and Henbury. This route was decided becasue these two areas were diadvantaged, and would help provide a link between the two.

The 2nd Showcase route is due to start in 2007. And will operate along A420 and A431, First has bought 42 new low emission buses to operate this route.

There are more routes planed across the city, they are mainly to increse the number of users and to minimise traffic. These Routes are:

1. M32 Priorities (The council want to put a bus lane on the M32)

2. A4018 Bristol to Cribbs Causeway (Likely to be current service 1)

3. Bristol to Cribbs Causeway via Parkway and North Fringe (Likely to be current service 73)

4. A4 Bristol to Bath (Likely to be current service X39 and 339)

5. A432 Bristol to Yate (Likely to be current service X30 and X40)

6. A37 Bristol to Norton Radstock (Likely to be current service 379)

7. A4174 Avon Ring Road (Likely to be a new service)

8. A370 Bristol to Weston-super-Mare (Likely to be current service X1 and 350)

9. A369 Bristol to Portishead (Likely to be current service 358 and 359)

10. A367 Bath to Norton Radstock

In 2006 Bristol bus station was redeveloped because the old station was falling in to disrepare. Though the station is managed by First Somerset & Avon, it is still in Bristol. There are 19 bays at the new station.

First also operates other services in Bristol but are part of First Somerset & Avon, These services include, services to Weston super mare, Bristol International Airport, South Wales, Yate, Chipping Sodbury, Clevedon, Bath, Dursley, Nailsea, Portishead, Yeovil, Bridgwater, Radstock, Tormarton and Chippenham.
