First American Corporation provides business information services. The company is on the Fortune 500. It was founded as the Orange County Title Company, and remains the largest company in the real estate title insurance business. Other businesses the company is involved include: home warranty, resident screening, automotive and consumer credit reporting, insurance tracking services, property and casualty insurance, pre-employment screening, trust services, investment services and a thrift.
The company was founded in 1889 and is based in Santa Ana, California. It is traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol FAF.
The First American Corporation has five reporting segments that fall within two primary business groups, financial services and information technology.
Financial Services: The financial services group includes the Company’s title insurance and services segment and its specialty insurance segment.
Information Technology: The Company’s mortgage information, property information and risk mitigation and business solutions segments comprise its information technology group.
