Firestorm Robot Series

The Firestorm Robot Series was a series of robots who took part in the UK TV series Robot Wars as competitors.

There were a total of five robots in the series, which competed through series 3 through 7. The rough design of the robot, which was reused for each one, was a wedge driven by two wheels in the back, minimizing ground clearance on the front. On the front surface of the robot was a flipper mechanism, a slow bar on the first robot which was superseded by a quicker panel flipper on the later four, which served as the main weapon. The first Firestorm also had a backup weapon, a pneumatic spike on the rear, which was unused and not included in future incarnations. The color scheme was usually a yellow paint on the front of the robot, and an orange paint on the back (although this was reversed in Firestorm 2).
The Firestorm team consisted of Graham Bone (the team captain), Alex Mordue (not present Series 7) and Hazel Heslop (engaged to Bone as of the end of the series).

Firestorm's first defeat also gained it the distinction of being the first robot ejected (flipped out) of the arena.

A very close battle. The subsequent judges decision giving Firestorm the victory was very controversial.

The only time Mr. Psycho was flipped over. Firestorm then went on to face Crushtacean to win the Commonwealth Carnage.
