The use of this low-resolution image in the articles Ian Hamilton Finlay and Concrete poetry is asserted to be fair use:

  • In Ian Hamilton Finlay, the image illustrates the technique of Finlay's work, which is entirely visual and could not be understood without an example.
  • In Concrete poetry, the image a particularly clear representation of the intended effect of the work of the concrete poetry school, of which Finlay is one of the most prominent members. Since concrete poetry is defined by its use of visual effects, an illustration is necessary.

Neither of these uses should have any negative impact on any other uses of the image. If you are the copyright holder and you believe that these instances do not qualify as fair use, see Request for immediate removal of copyright violation. You will be asked for a statement explaining why Wikipedia's use of the image is not fair use.
