FINE TV is incorprated by Network Guidance Sdn Bhd, one of the small companies from Eurofine Sdn Bhd. The idea to create Fine TV came when a brainstorming session was held in 1995.
From that session, an idea finally came about people watching television easier in the future. Then, another plan came that a show that is on TV can be seen from a telephone line and at that time, the technology is being developed in the United States by the telecommunication company of that country, AT&T, Dell, Microsoft and Warner.
The test session of Fine TV went on till 2003. The test was held by Telekom which at that time was not confident about this new technology. The test session was finally held at areas surrounding Subang Jaya and Kelana Jaya. It was then launched in 2005.
Currently, there are 19 channels on Fine TV, each of a different genre such as entertainment, assorted dramas, movies, cartoons and news. Bernama is one of the news channels available. Other than that, many soap operas are shown on subsequent channels.
[edit] How to acess Fine TV
To access the channels, you need to have a broadband service.
The operation of Fine TV can be seen in two methods. The first is known as ADSC Broadband Line that uses Telekom's permanent phone line while the other is by a wireless system for places with no permanent phone line. The second wireless system is useful for people who are constantly travelling and for business people.
It also doesn't use a satellite dish to receive broadcasts, which means the transmission will be clear even if there is heavy rain or a thunderstorm.
The fee charged monthly is RM30.00 which includes PPV channels. It is cheaper than the monthly fee of Astro and MiTV.
