[edit] Summary
After William is initiated into the the group, he is given form on Lyoko. A series of events keeps most of the team busy, and only him and Aelita are left to defend Lyoko's core. During William's first mission to Lyoko, he thinks of it more like a video game and decides to do battle with the Creepers. When faced with the Scyphozoa, he is inexperienced and this allows Xana to possess him easily. After taking out Aelita, he becomes the general of a massive army focused on destroying Lyoko's unprotected core.
[edit] Recap
Late at night in the factory, the group is preparing to scan William into the supercomputer, thus officially initiating him into the group. William couldn't be happier to join, and excitedly enters the scanner. After he is entered into the supercomputer, Odd asks him how he feels now. William wants to take on Xana as soon as possible, but the others recommend he hang back and get a feel for how things work. On their way back to the school, Odd mentions that a skateboarding championship will be held tomorrow, which he plans to win.
In the gym, the preparations for the skateboarding are complete and the competitors are getting ready. Like most events at the school, Jim is running the show. After a short sppech in which he uses various skateboarding terms, Ulrich comments that he's impressed by Jim's knowledge of the sport. Jim mentions that he was a roller derby champion at one point. He's actually willing to talk about this one, but doesn't have time at the moment. Blowing his whistle, Jim starts the contest. The first few contestants go in pairs, crashing into each other each time. Odd does notably better, owing to his preferred method of travel on Lyoko. After he finishes up, Odd brags about his performance to Ulrich. To his surprise, Samantha also arrives to praise him for his performance. Odd falls over backwards in surprise, but is quick to regain his cool. Samantha explains that she's in town for the skateboarding contest. She had moved to an area near the coast sometime after her first appearance. After Samantha is called for her turn, Ulrich teases Odd about being in love with her.
In Jeremie's room, Jeremie has devised a program to track down Franz Hopper on Lyoko. Aelita, who is with him, wants to test it at the factory immediately. As the two try to leave, they are stopped by Milly and Tamiya. Jeremie apparently agreed to a day-long interview since he's the class valedictorian, which he forgot about. Aelita offers to go to the factory and test it herself, allowing Jeremie to do the interview.
At the factory, Aelita discovers that Xana's monsters are attacking Lyoko's core. One by one, she calls her friends to get some backup, but each one turns up indisposed. Jeremie can't rid of Milly and Tamiya, who are arguing over what questions to ask. Yumi is stuck babysitting Hiroki. Despite her best attempts, she can't convince him to let her leave. Ulrich runs into his father, who wants to talk to Ulrich about his poor grades. The principal has loaned them his office for that purpose. Odd's in the middle of another skateboarding run. Ulrich gives Samantha a message to pass onto Odd, but she neglects to tell him. The only person Aelita can manage to successfully contact is William, who is alone in the park.
In the factory, William suggests that he and Aelita go to Lyoko alone since no one else is showing up. Aelita's not so sure they should go alone, and calls Jeremie for advice. Jeremie agrees with William, since protecting Lyoko comes first. Aelita's somewhat annoyed, but decides to go with Jermeie's decision. While Aelita and William go to Lyoko, Jeremie manages to get away from the two girls interviewing him by entering the boys' bathroom and crawling out the back window.
On Lyoko, Aelita and William appear in Carthage. William is dressed in a skin-tight body suit with a white upper-half and a blue lower-half. He's also sporting a giant cleaver-like sword as his weapon. Awed by the sight of both himself and Lyoko, he starts asking Aelita all kinds of questions about what she can do. Still annoyed, Aelita just tells him that it's not a video game and directs him on where to go next. Making their way into Carthage, Aelita and William find the key in an empty room with a segmented floor. After Aelita points out the key, William blindly charges in, ignorant of the traps that are common in such rooms. William is stopped by a segment of the floor rising to block him. In the distance, Creepers can be heard roaring. When they emerge, William offers to fight them while Aelita goes for the key. He has some trouble hefting his giant sword, but gets the hang of it quickly. Aelita just shakes her head as William once again blindly charges toward danger. William makes short work of the Creepers, much to his own surprise, and Aelita easily makes it to the key in the meantime. With the passage open, Aelita tells William to follow her, but he insists on taking out the last two Creepers. As he does, a wall rises to trap him in the room and separate him from Aelita.
In the factory, Jeremie arrives just as Aelita and William are separated. He asks where Odd, Ulrich, and Yumi are, since they haven't arrived, but Aelita doesn't know. William chimes in to note that a monster has appeared in the room with him. It's the Scyphozoa, which is yet another danger William is ignorant of. Worried, Jeremie directs Aelita around the outside of the room so she can reach William. He also tells William to run, but William doesn't think the Scyphozoa is a threat. He somewhat reevaluates his opinion when it knocks his weapon away. As Aelita runs to reach William, Jeremie tells him to run again. William is stil unwilling to run, not seeing the danger posed by the monster. As William calmly retrieves his weapon, the Scyphozoa grabs and possesses him. By the time Aelita arrives, it's already too late. Aelita tries to devirtualize the possessed William, but he effortlessly bats away her energy blasts, then devirtualizes her with his own energy blast, charged and fired with a swing of his sword. The possessed William does a victory cheer after doing so.
At the school, Ulrich gets tired of his conversation with his father after he suggests that Ulrich's friends are a bad influence. Another phone call from Jeremie is all the motivation he needs to leave, despite his father's orders to the contrary. Ulrich then calls Odd, who's still at the skateboarding contest. Odd's both disappointed that Samantha didn't give him the message, but she only did so because she wanted to spend time with him. To his own dismay, Odd still has to leave, doing so just before its his turn again. Meanwhile, Yumi manages to get by Hiroki after Jeremie calls her. She claims that the person on the phone is their father, distracting Hiroki long enough for her to leave the house.
In the core room, William has gathered an army of Creepers to attack Lyoko's core. All at once, the army of Creepers all charge their lasers while William charges his sword. On William's command, they all fire, obliterating the first shield with a single volley. Odd, Ulrich, and Yumi arrive in Carthage at about the same time and begin making their way to the core. They arrive in the core room just as William and the Creepers fire another volley, obliterating the second shield and leaving the solitary eye-shaped representation of Carthage vulnerable. Ulrich yells to get William's attention before they fire again. Instead of focusing on the core, William tosses his sword down to their level and jumps after it. William's landing leaves a sizable crater beneath him and sends a ripple throughout the room.
In the lab, Aelita laments that Lyoko's destruction will also mean the loss of her father. Fortunately, the program she had come to the lab to test locates Franz Hopper, so Jeremie starts up the procedure to collect and materialize him.
On Lyoko, William collects his sword and faces down the other Lyoko warriors. Ulrich stays behind to fight William while Odd and Yumi go to stop the Creepers. With a swing of his sword, William devirtualizes Odd with a long range energy blast. Ulrich sprints to block William's path, but his sword is no match for the force of William's energy blasts. After his sword is knocked away, William slices through him easily. Yumi manages to destroy one Creeper, but William appears behind her using a form of Ulrich's super-sprint ability and devirtualizes her. As she devirtualizes, Yumi remarks that she knew it was a bad idea to bring William into the group.
In the scanner room, Odd, Ulrich, and Yumi are in poor spirits from their apparent powerlessness against William. One level up, Aelita and Jeremie watch as William approaches the core, hoping that Franz Hopper is materialized before Lyoko is destroyed.
In the core room, William hovers next to the core and stabs it with his sword. With the core impaled, Lyoko collapses in upon itself, with William at the center of the destruction. Jeremie notes that his virtualziation of Franz Hopper was also cut short, meaning that Lyoko, Franz, and William are all gone. The latter of the three is not true, however. Where Lyoko's core once was, William remains, curled up into a ball. His clothing is different from before, now completely black with a red outline, and his sword is missing. An white Eye of Xana is visible on his forehead. As he uncurls, A larger version of eye also appears on his chest, glowing bright orange. With a burst of orange energy, William stretches out and roars.
At the Hermitage, the group mulls over everything they've lost. With Lyoko gone, the supercomputer has become effectively useless, meaning Xana is free to do whatever he wants. Franz Hopper is also seemingly lost, which Aelita is upset about. Though things seem bleak, a small ray of hope comes in the form of a coded message on Jeremie's laptop. As Jeremie checks it, he reveals that it has been sent from the internet by none other than Franz Hopper.
[edit] Memorable quotes
- Ulrich: Wow Jim, you really are up on your skateboard slang.
- Jim: Yeah, you know, I used to be quite good at roller derby back in the day.
- Ulrich: But let me guess, you'd rather not talk about it.
- Jim: Well actually, I'd love to, but I really don't have time right now.
- Odd: How weird is it to run into her again? I almost forgot how cool and pretty she is.
- Ulrich: And how you're really in love.
- Odd: Come on, can't you like someone without being in love with them?
- Ulrich: I can, but you're totally in love good buddy.
- (Odd sighs and dreamily looks at Samantha)
- (As she is devurtualizing)
- Yumi: I knew it was a bad idea to bring you into the group.

- When William tells Jeremie that the Scyphozoa is after him, there is a view of Jeremie's holomap and the Scyphozoa is the only thing seen.
